About ModiFace

Founded by University of Toronto engineering professor Parham Aarabi, what began as a research project in facial tracking and simulation has grown into the global reference point for AR and AI in beauty - not through acquisition of existing tools, but through original research that created the category.
In 2018, L'Oréal acquired ModiFace, marking the Group's first acquisition of a pure-play technology company. Today, we sit at the heart of L'Oréal's digital services while continuing to bring our technology to L'Oréal brands and retail partners across the global beauty ecosystem.
Precision
If it's not realistic, it's not ModiFace. Clinical-level accuracy in colour rendering, facial tracking, and skin diagnostics is non-negotiable in every product we build.
Inclusion
Our AI is built by a diverse team and trained on a wide spectrum of skin tones, facial features, and hair types. Our experiences are designed to celebrate every user- not just some of them.
Trust
Data ethics and privacy are integrated by design. We are committed to responsible use of AI and to providing experiences that users can explore comfortably and securely.

Careers at ModiFace
We are always looking for people who are excited by the future of beauty and the possibilities of AR and AI. If you are passionate about computer vision, machine learning, product development or building relationships with global partners, there is likely a place for you at ModiFace
Internships
Our internship programs, including PEY and MCSac placements, give students the opportunity to work on live projects, contribute to production-scale systems, and see their work reach millions of users.
Interns are paired with experienced mentors, included in research and product discussions, and given a genuine look at how advanced AR and AI are built and deployed in the beauty industry.
